The Church of Vows is a location in Elden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes region, where you can find useful resources and learn powerful sorceries. In this Elden Ring Church of Vows guide, we’ll tell you how to get to Church of Vows, what loot to expect, and how to find an enemy encounter.

Where is Church of Vows? It’s located on the east side of the large swampy area that lies at the center of the Liurnia of the Lakes region.

How to get to Church of Vows

The most direct way to approach is to start at the Eastern Tableland site of grace and head west along the road, which is patrolled by a few enemies. Follow the main road, and veer west when it forks, heading uphill through a graveyard area to reach the front of the church.

A less direct way to approach is warp to the area by following a portal in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. It is not far from where you fight Moongrum, and where the giant metal ball rolls down the long steps. From the Debate Parlor site of grace, head outside to the courtyard, keep to the right, and then cross over to the long staircase.

Climb the steps, and enter the building. In the lobby area, veer right to find the portal. You will appear within the church.

Church of Vows guide

The Church of Vows is a small but important area because you can acquire the Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing by defeating an enemy that appears at night, and because the resident NPC teaches the player powerful sorceries for a cost.

A chest near the building’s right interior side contains the Golden Tailoring Tools and the Gold Sewing Needle, key items that allow the player to alter their garb and demigod attire.

Finally, offering a Celestial Dew item to the statue near the back of the building enables the player to atone, receive absolution, and revive slain NPCs.

You can do most of what you might like at the Church of Vows while visiting at any time of the day. Talk to Miriel, the church’s guardian, to learn of the area’s history. Miriel also teaches the Magic Glintblade and Carian Greatsword sorceries. The latter is particularly powerful, with a long range that makes it useful in combat. If you have the Conspectus Scroll, acquired in Raya Lucaria Academy, hand it over to Miriel and he will be able to teach you the Glintstone Cometshard and Star Shower sorceries.

Church of Vows boss: Bell Bearing Hunter

At night, head to the church to battle the Bell Bearing Hunter boss. It works best if you rest at another site of grace and pass time until night, and then fast travel to the church grounds and enter the building when night has already arrived.

The enemy that waits there is powerful, and his sword has the same range as magic projectiles — except that it is a lot faster. A melee-based approach is likely best, especially if you can inflict blood damage.

When defeated, the roaming bounty hunter drops the Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing.
