The Cliffbottom Catacombs are a dungeon in Elden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes region, where you can find the Nox Mirrorhelm, the Prattling Pate “Wonderful,” the Page Ashes, various glovewort crafting materials, and the Kaiden Sellsword Ashes.
In this Elden Ring Cliffbottom Catacombs walkthrough, we’ll tell you where to find the dungeon, what enemies you’ll encounter, and how to survive long enough to snag some fantastic loot.
Cliffbottom Catacombs location
The Cliffbottom Catacombs are located in the southwestern portion of Liurnia of the Lakes. Your adversaries are numerous Imps and Ogres, along with an Erdtree Burial Watchdog at the end.
Cliffbottom Catacombs entrance
To reach the area, head a short distance northeast from the Liurnia Highway South site of grace. Ride north along the cliffside to the right of the main road, until you reach an area where a grassy field descends and allows you to circle back along the base of those cliffs. Continue in this direction, past some weak mobs, and continue exploring along the base of the cliffs to find doors leading into the catacombs.
Cliffbottom Catacombs loot
There are two powerful summons up for grabs in this particular area, which definitely makes it worth the trip provided you’re able to endure attacks from pesky Imps and their slower but powerful companions, the Ogres. When possible, you will want to avoid the Ogres using stealth.
Imps as greeters
In the first part of Cliffbottom Catacombs, you encounter Imps exclusively. They drop from the ceiling or spring at you from beyond doorways. Keep a shield ready and roll through doors to avoid a surprise attack from the side as you enter a room. The Imps may inflict Hemorrhage (blood loss), even if they strike a shield, but they’re weak to magic-imbued melee weapons and projectiles. In some cases, you can step on a nearby square plate positioned along the floor to send spikes flying so they hit an Imp after it drops from the ceiling. Just watch that you don’t get hit yourself.
Cliffbottom Catacombs Stonesword Key
Near the first patrolling Ogre you find, a Stonesword Key grants entry to a room containing the Nox Mirrorhelm. An Imp will drop from the ceiling here also. Note that the Ogre can follow you into the confined space if you’re not careful, so prepare yourself for that possibility. It is a dangerous area.
The Ogre guards a Rune Arc. If you climb the stairs along the left wall near the Ogre, you can potentially sneak past it without a fight. At the top of those steps, watch for another plate trap and more Imps as you proceed through an opening.
Along that route, a room to the left holds the Scythe weapon, which rests on a corpse guarded by three Imps.
Also in this direction, you’ll encounter a dead-end passageway. A sneaky Imp may follow you and attack as you are distracted by a Golden Rune from the corpse and some Grave Glovewort on the plant.
Ogres roam the depths
Back near the dungeon’s entrance, a short distance past the locked double doors that lead to the boss, check to either side of the base of the steps you descend toward a series of archways. You can look down to see a slumbering Ogre. Hurl projectile magic to wake him and eliminate him from a safe vantage point, then drop down to that lower level. Numerous Ogres patrol here, so tread carefully to avoid a fight. Along the passages to the west, you’ll find the Prattling Pate “Wonderful.”
Elden Ring Cliffbottom Catacombs lever, Page Ashes, and lever
When you approach the end of the tunnels leading east, past an Ogre sentry, you’ll come to a ladder. Climb it to find the path splits. Head left to find an Ogre praying in front of some Page Ashes resting on a tombstone. Go right to find an Imp lying in ambush ahead of the lever that opens the doors near the dungeon’s entrance so you can reach the boss.
Cliffbottom Catacombs boss: Erdtree Burial Watchdog
Through the doors you opened, you’ll find a boss with fiery breath. Like the other denizens of the catacombs, it doesn’t like magic projectiles or imbued blades. Stay at a distance and strike with projectile magic, the better to avoid the monster’s area attacks. Besides attacking with an extended stream of fire, your foe sometimes rises into the air and then slams down to the floor to send a shockwave that spreads in a fairly wide ring. When you defeat the mongrel, you’ll acquire the Kaiden Sellsword Ashes and then you’re done in the catacombs.
