Stillwater Cave is a dungeon in Elden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes region where you can find the Winged Sword Insignia talisman and the Sage armor set. In this Elden Ring Stillwater Cave guide, we’ll tell you where to find the dungeon, what loot to expect, and enemies you’ll encounter.

Stillwater Cave location

Stillwater Cave is in the southeast portion of the Liurnia of the Lakes region, close to where you enter from Stormveil Castle at the Lake-Facing Cliffs site of grace. Drop along the platforms that allow you to descend the cliff to reach the marshland, and then head right along the cliffs to face a few glowing jellyfish ahead of the proper entrance.

Stillwater Cave loot

In the Stillwater Cave, you’ll find the Winged Sword Insignia talisman, which allows your attacks to grow more powerful as you land successive blows on your enemies. When you equip it while using a weapon that inflicts blood loss, it can prove very powerful in tough fights. Other noteworthy attractions in the area include various moss materials you can farm for crafting purposes, as well as the Sage Hood, Sage Robe, and Sage Trousers.

Floral peril

Many of the enemies you encounter in Stillwater Cave inflict status ailments. The flowers bloom and produce toxic waves of poison, and they are joined by roaming enemies with similar abilities. Area attacks prove most useful against the flowers if you find yourself in a bed of them. The largest flowers should be avoided entirely. When possible, attack enemies from a distance with powerful sorcery.

Near the entrance, restore the Stillwater Cave site of grace. Then head forward and remain along high ground. It’s easiest to do this if you have a torch or a lantern equipped so you can watch your step. Defeat the more mobile enemies you encounter here. If they spot you as you approach, they will fire projectiles from a distance. Counter their shots with sorcery.

As you proceed, look for a path leading left into a small cave area. Here, you find several bats hanging from the ceiling. Target the closest two with sorcery or arrows before they can pose a threat. The larger third one can withstand quite a lot of damage and it hits harder. Don’t be afraid to back along the corridor if you need to as you continue pelting it with sorcery. When you defeat them all, check the area for the Sage Hood, Sage Robe, and Sage Trousers. Other bodies surrender the Golden Rune [6], Golden Rune [5], and 15 Serpent Arrows.

Return to the main ledge leading through the cave and continue along it. There is a Glowstone resting on a corpse along the left side of the passage. Make careful jumps across small gaps just beyond that point as needed to remain on the high ground. Large flowers are positioned below those ledges. Avoid alerting them to your presence or the jumps become more hazardous. Finally, near the end of the cave, you’ll encounter a few enemies that respond slowly to your presence and attacks. The easiest approach is to simply run past them along the planking to reach the boss door at the far side of the sloping corridor.

The Cleanrot Knight attacks with a spear and a sword. He tries to impale you if possible, so make sure to roll and avoid that. His spear is his greatest asset. Watch for it to glow when attacks are imminent, since it inflicts the lethal Scarlet Rot status ailment. Dodge around him and let your summons keep him distracted so you can move in and attack from the flanks. As you move about the arena, keep to the dry bits along the edges or you may start to suffer poison damage due to the toxic environment. When you defeat the boss, it drops the Winged Sword Insignia talisman.
