The Siofra River region in Elden Ring has a secret boss fight. By finding and lighting certain pillars in the area, you’ll be able to challenge an optional boss. Our Elden Ring Siofra River pillars puzzle guide will help you with the Siofra River Well braziers and the Ancestor Spirit boss fight.

We’ve already discussed how to reach the underground region of Siofra River in Elden Ring. Once you’re in the main area, you’ll spot tall pillars that have a brazier at their base (kind of like an altar). Interacting with these braziers lets you light them.

Lighting all eight of them will unlock a secret boss for you to fight. You’ll find the locations of all eight pillars on the map above.
While lighting them, you’ll need to watch for enemies. This place is teeming with Ancestral Followers (those minotaur-looking specters) that will pop up when you get too close. The archers are particularly deadly due to their accuracy.
There are also floating orbs that will shoot several bolts of lightning. They’re extremely accurate, too, which means you could end up dead if you’re not careful.

After lighting all eight braziers, a notification will show up saying that “power gathers somewhere in horned remains.” Return to the Hallowhorn Grounds in the southeastern section of this region. When you’re ready, interact with the giant stag carcass to get teleported to the boss’ arena.

The Ancestor Spirit boss in Elden Ring isn’t particularly difficult, but it does have some attacks to watch for:
- Similar to Torrent, the boss will double jump in midair before crashing down on you.
- The Ancestor Spirit has fairly slow melee attacks where it attempts to skewer you with its horns.
- If you’re behind it, it will attempt to kick you with its hind legs.
- It will periodically spew blue fire around itself. The fire rapidly depletes your health if you’re standing too close.
After beating the Ancestor Spirit boss in Elden Ring, you’ll receive the Ancestral Follower Spirit Ashes, which lets you summon a ghostly minotaur companion.
