Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy returns for a second season at the end of July. The first promotional images of the upcoming season reveal a slightly scruffier cast, most of them sporting new hairdos or facial hair.
Based on the Gerard Way-penned (yes, that Gerard Way) comic of the same name, The Umbrella Academy follows seven super-powered adopted siblings (played by Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, and Ellen Page) as they reconcile with each other, and their past.
The first season ended with the end of the world — literally. After spending the entire season trying to stop the impending apocalypse, the Hargreeves siblings realized it came in the form of their neglected sister Vanya, who secretly had the most devastating powers among them. The last moments of season one saw the siblings joining hands and trying to time travel to an earlier moment to see if they can save the world, shifting into their childhood selves.
Most of these first looks, however, feature the Hargreeves siblings in their adult forms (well, save for Number Five, who was stuck time-traveling when he was still a kid and is therefore much younger than the rest). But they all look ... slightly off, be it the out-of-time clothes, the new hairstyles, or the setting in general. There are also a handful of new characters.
So where are the siblings? Or, more importantly, perhaps, when are they?
The Umbrella Academy returns on July 31.
