While you wait for A24’s The Green Knight, play the tabletop campaign

The tabletop role-playing game takes place in the world of the film

David Lowery’s new film, The Green Knight, which stars Dev Patel as Sir Gawain and presents a fresh take on old Arthurian legends, was originally set to be released on May 29. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been delayed indefinitely. Luckily, A24 is releasing a Green Knight tabletop role-playing game to help tide would-be moviegoers over.

The Green Knight: A Quest for Honor takes place in the world of the film. Players can take on the role of Knight, Noble, Hunter, Sorcerer, or Bard, and will face a series of obstacles that test their honor. As in typical tabletop campaigns, players can utilize any number of strategies upon their journey, engaging in battle or trying to talk their way out of sticky situations.

The game accommodates four to six players, and boasts professional game master Timm Woods as one of the consultants in its construction. The game also includes a Game Master’s Guide, a map, five character sheets, and a 20-sided die.

The game is now available to preorder on A24’s website for $35, and will be released in the first week of August. Take a look at the game below.
