Fallout 76: Plan locations

Plans are the crafting recipes that allow you to build weapons, create armor, and trick out your CAMP in Fallout 76. You begin the game with a handful of basic plans, but to get the really cool or elite stuff, you’ll have to do some searching.

How to use plans

Once you have the plans, you’ll need to read them before they appear in your crafting menu. To do this, find them in your Pip-Boy (under Notes) and select them. This applies even when you find a plan out in the Wasteland (not in a box or as a quest reward). The menu prompt to interact with the plans will say “Read,” but to make them available you’ll still have to go into your Pip-Boy and read them.

Overseer’s cache plans

One simple way to find useful plans is to follow the Overseer quest. This quest requires you to find the Overseer’s caches left all over the map, some of which include one or more plans. The caches with plans in them seem to be in the areas you’ll access earlier in Fallout 76, so focus on those rather than trying to make it to high-level areas like the Cranberry Bog.

Other quests will also reward you with plans.

• Miner Miracles: Excavator Helmet, Excavator Left Arm, Excavator Left Leg, Excavator Right Arm, Excavator Right Leg, Excavator Torso, Power Armor Station

Another strategy for finding plans is to claim Workshops, then defend them from enemy waves. Successfully defending a Workshop will reward you with items that may include plans.

Advertisement Posters

Find these plans in an abandoned campsite southwest of the Sunday Brothers Cabin.

Double Display Shelf

Look in Abbie’s Bunker in a red tool case on a desk.

Elegant Couches

These plans are in Monogah Power Substation MZ-01 in a tool chest inside the station.

Head to Top of the World to find these plans next to the armor workbench.

Metal Bed

These plans are in the Overseer’s CAMP on the table next to the toolbox early in the game.

Pocketed Raider Armor Limbs

In a shack just west of the Tyler County Dirt Track.

Water Filter

These plans are at Grafton Station on a crate outside the station.

Wooden Desks

In the Pleasant Valley Ski Resort, these plans are on the counter in the room with the vendor bot.
