FFXIV Endwalker guide: Treasure map locations (Ophiotauroskin)

How to use Ophiotauroskin maps to get to Gymnasion Agonon

FFXIV’s patch 6.3 added a new type of treasure map: Ophiotauroskin, which allows you to visit The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon in Elpis. They work similarly to Kumbhiraskin maps, with some slight location differences.

This is the first time FFXIV has included two separate maps that lead to dungeons in one expansion, so it can be a little bit confusing.

Based on some testing, we noticed that Kumbhiraskin maps do not lead to Elpis (which is the same as they were before patch 6.3) and that Ophiotauroskin maps only lead to Elpis.

These maps should still be completed with a party consisting of at least one DPS, one healer, and one tank, as you’ll have to defeat swarms of enemies to get the rewards.

Update (May 30): We’ve added information about rewards added in patch 6.4.

How to find Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps in Endwalker

You can find Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps in level 90 gathering nodes in Elpis. They appear at random, so it might take a few tries to find one from a node. To decipher and dig for the maps, you’ll need to complete the quest “Treasure and Tribulations.” You can dig up one map every 18 hours.

Once you decipher the map, a little square of Elpis will display a red x marking the location of the treasure. You’ll need to dig near the x to find the treasure.

With luck, this will lead you and your party to a portal, putting you in the The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon, where a roulette wheel spins to test your fate. You’ll need to take down monsters to get loot without getting thrown out of the dungeon via an unlucky spin. However, sometimes you dig up a chest and just get some meager rewards rather than a turn in Gymnasion Agonon. Dang it.

Notable Ophiotauroskin map rewards

Opening a treasure chest in Elpis can reward many things, like gil, Tomestones, and crafting materials. There are some notable rewards that you can only get from these treasure maps:

  • Wind-up Philos minion
  • Wind-up Aidoneus minion
  • Burning Horn (to get the Phaethon mount)
  • Mikra Lyssa minion

There may be more rewards, but we’re unable to confirm them as drops as of this writing.

These maps also share rewards with the Kumbhiraskin maps. These rewards are exclusive to Endwalker maps in general, but can be found in both map types:

  • Resplendent Feathers (to get the Alkonost mount)
  • Pixie Wings fashion accessory
  • Archangel Wings fashion accessory
  • White Lace Parasol fashion accessory
  • Excite-I-Mask glamour item
  • Royal Lunatender minion
  • “On Blade’s Edge” Orchestrion Roll
  • “Finality” Orchestrion Roll
  • “A Victory Fanfare Reborn” Orchestrion Roll
  • “Dangertek” Orchestrion Roll
  • Cloth of Happiness (to make Happiness glamour)
  • Exciting Fiber (to make Varsity glamour)
  • Exciting Leather (to make Lawless Enforcer glamour)
  • Hagnos Cloth (to make Salon Server glamour)
  • Malake Karpasos (to make Pajama glamour)

There may be more rewards, but these are the rewards we’re able to confirm as of this writing.

Elpis treasure map locations

All the potential treasure map locations that we know of are marked below. If your map is not leading you to Elpis, you may be using a Kumbhiraskin map instead.
