With Final Fantasy 14 Online’s patch 5.5 comes the last alliance raid for the Shadowbringers expansion, The Tower at Paradigm’s Breach.
In this FFXIV guide, we’ll walk you through the specific quests you need to complete to unlock The Tower at Paradigm’s Breach, as well as the Nier alliance raids in general.
To unlock the new alliance raid, you need to complete the quest “Konogg, Alone” from the Dig Site Chief NPC in Kholusia. After completing this, another quest will unlock called “Brave New World.” The Tower at Paradigm’s Breach will unlock during this quest. You will need at least 495 average item level or higher to queue for it.
The alliance raid will drop various pieces of item level 520 gear, and you’ll be able to grab one per week. The raid also drops a hairstyles based off of 2B and 9S that you can try to roll for. As usual, Viera and Hrothgar cannot sport these hairstyles.
The gear dropped from The Tower at Paradigm’s Reach is not the best-in-slot gear, so while you might opt for Cryptlurker or Edenmorn gear instead, you can use this stuff to gear up your alternate jobs. It also looks really great, since it’s styled after the Nier franchise, so you can use it as glamour as well.
If you haven’t unlocked any of the Nier alliance raids, you’ll need to start unlocking them from the quest “Word about Komra” from the Gossipy Dwarf NPC in Kholusia. It will be identifiable with the usual blue quest emblem with a plus symbol on it.
To access to Nier raids, you need at least one combat job at level 80, and you also need to complete the “Shadowbringers” quest, which is the last main scenario quest in the main part of the expansion. (You need to own the Shadowbringers expansion as well, just in case that wasn’t clear.)
