Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade guide: Nero boss fight tips

The final boss of the Episode Intermission DLC can be tough

In Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade’s downloadable content for Yuffie, Episode Intermission, you’ll need to take on Nero, a Deepground member. The creepy character can be a lot to deal with, as he’s the final boss in the DLC, but our Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade guide will help you figure out his weaknesses and how to beat him.

Nero’s fight is broken up into four parts, and as you whittle down his health, cutscenes will play, showing him powering up more. The longer you fight him, the harder his fight gets.

As with most Final Fantasy 7 Remake fights, keep moving and dodging to avoid Nero’s brutal abilities. If he grabs Yuffie, he’ll deal lots of damage, and Sonon isn’t very good at freeing her, as you can only control a limited number of his actions.

Most notably, his purple darkness will eventually start dealing constant damage to Yuffie and Sonon, so keep them both healthy throughout the fight. Yuffie comes with a Healing materia that is already leveled up enough to use Cura, so make use of that, along with healing items if you need them. You can also use the Magnify materia obtained from the Happy Turtle side quest to make it so your Healing Materia heals both Yuffie and Sonon together.

Save your Limit Break and Summon for the third or fourth phase of the fight, as that’s when the constant darkness damage starts becoming a real pain in the butt. In his fourth phase, Nero’s wings will become targetable, but just burst him down directly to make the best use of your time.

If Yuffie dies, Sonon will use an ability that kills himself while raising Yuffie. While this is helpful for preventing a game over, it can be a detriment, as raising and healing Sonon back up will use too many resources. It’s best to keep Yuffie as healthy as possible to avoid falling into this trap.
