What is the gold circle on the map in Fortnite?

That orange-yellow-gold circle that moves on the map is another player

In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, you may notice a gold-orange-yellow circle moving around the map. This circle is actually tracking a player, the same way bounty board circles do.

The player that the gold circle tracks is carrying a Society Medallion, which buffs their shields. You can eliminate the character holding the medallion and take it for yourself, but note that this character will be buffed and harder to take out. The more medallions they have, the more shield buffs they’ll have, so you should approach the character within the gold circle with caution. (We didn’t discern any stand-out visuals about the character with the medallion, but it’s possible that we just weren’t close enough to them to notice.)

Since there are multiple medallions, there also may be multiple gold circles on the map. This remains the same: they’re players who have the medallions.

You can use these gold circle as a warning: The player inside is not to be messed with. You can also take it as a target: The player inside the circle has some good loot to grab off of them.

Otherwise, medallions can be obtained from eliminating boss NPCs in specific named locations.
