Since it was released last year, Skull Trooper has been one of Fortnite’s most iconic skins. Not because it was particularly great, but for another reason: It basically looked like a guy wearing skeleton pajamas.
The skin was available for a short time during the game’s first Halloween celebration and then it left the store forever. Or, that’s what players assumed. The skin quickly became the mark of a dedicated player who had been around since the beginning — the skin was released around a month after Battle Royale’s initial launch. Over time, the skin went from somewhat silly to a full-blown status symbol.
But, as Halloween comes around again, Epic Games is bringing Skull Trooper back to the shop, along with a female version of the skin called, Skull Ranger. The skins themselves are pretty clear upgrades over the original versions — though whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you.
Patch v6.02 is available now with a return from beyond the grave!

While this was initially met with disappointment from the players that already had the skin, things quickly turned around as players realized that there was a customized version of the skin waiting for everyone that previously owned Skull Trooper. While players that buy the skin now can make it either traditional black and white or black and green, players who already owned the skin have access to a special black and purple color option that makes it even more special.
Both the Skull Trooper and the new Skull Ranger are available in the Fortnite shop starting on Oct. 10, but there’s no telling how often they’ll be on sale before the end of the Halloween season.
