Fortnite’s comet is hitting tomorrow

Fortnite’s season 4 should begin with a bang

Update: Fortnite season 4 is now live, brings huge map changes to Battle Royale

Fortnite’s fourth season is about to begin, and we’re expecting a doozy.

The Twitter countdown from the official account that added a superhero to the image every day seems to have wrapped up with today’s tweet, which proclaims that we should “brace for impact,” and states that the fourth season will begin tomorrow.

Things have been strange in Fortnite for a while now, with weird objects in the sky and in-game stories about alien abductions. The popular theory is that Tilted Towers is going to be destroyed, but smaller meteorites have been hitting the game for a few days now without doing much damage to the map. Based on the Twitter image from today however, those are all small impacts compared to what’s coming.

For comparison, here is a video of a meteorite hitting the ground in-game:

And here’s the tweet from this morning, complete with an image of a large crater and a look at what could be the superhero skins coming to the game:

It’s all very exciting, and it will be fun to see how well the fan theories and in-game hints line up with the reality of what happens tomorrow. This is probably the most excitement Epic Games has been able to drum up for a new season, and the inclusion of a meta-narrative that exists in both game modes and the slow drip of information from social media accounts has been a pretty consistent way to keep people talking about the game.

Tomorrow can’t come soon enough. You might want to find some shelter, however.
