Fortnite Summer Skirmish: start time, live stream and schedule

Fortnite’s official tournaments begin today

Fortnite’s Summer Skirmish tournament series will span eight weeks, with a combined prize pool for $8 million. The first event in the series will begin today, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. PT/4:00 p.m. ET. You can watch the stream at the top of this post.

The winner of the event will be the first team of duos to reach two victory royales, and that team will win $50,000. The prize values drop from there, with the 16th to 20th place winners taking home a $2,500 prize. There will also be a $6,500 bonus award for the team with the most eliminations in each match played. You can see all the prize amounts and the full list of teams on the event’s official site.

According to Epic’s announcement of the series, it is designed to bring together community members, content creators and Fortnite players who have “demonstrated their competitive prowess.” The exact format of each competition and the competitors will change week to week and have a variety of prize pools attached to them.

Tonight’s event will be particularly interesting due to the limited amount of time players have had to practice on the game’s updated map.
