Epic Games extends Fortnite season 10, but doesn’t explain why

Players will have to wait another week for the new season

Fortnite - gliding in Epic Games

Fortnite’s latest patch is here, and it had some surprise info for fans: season 10 isn’t ending when we originally thought. Instead of ending on Oct. 6, the way most people expected, Epic is extending season 10 until Oct. 13.

Epic announced the season extension alongside the launch of patch v10.40.1 on Wednesday morning, but there’s no mention of a reason for the delay in the patch notes themselves. As an added bonus of the season lasting longer, Gotham City and the Batman Caped Crusader pack will stick around for some extra time as well, and won’t disappear until the end of season 10. We’ve reached out to Epic Games to ask why this extension is taking place, and will update the post with any new information.

During the extension there will be a few Overtime Missions for players to complete. While we don’t know yet what these missions are, Epic did give us some clues about the rewards which will include cosmetics and loading screens.

These missions will be available from Tuesday Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. ET and will end on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. ET.
