Epic is once again kicking off the new Fortnite season with a cinematic trailer. The trailer combines all the themes of the season — naval combat, exploration, and ruins — by sending its characters on a treasure hunt.
The season 8 trailer, called X Marks the Spot, shows three warring factions each in a race to get the hidden treasure. From out of the frozen tundra of the map’s southwest corner comes Ice King, Prisoner jumps out of the newly formed volcano, and Blackhart the pirate captain even joins the fray. Each of these treasure hunters brought a couple of their minions along for the search, but the trailer ends just as they’re all about to get into a scuffle over the loot.
Fortnite season 8 starts on Thursday, Feb. 28 and will run until May 8. For details on what is going to change in-game with the new season you can check out the full patch notes.
