Despite months of delays, Fortnite Chapter 2 season 3 has finally arrived. After Monday’s event turned Fortnite’s storm to water, it was clear that this season would be nautically themed, and the season didn’t disappoint. The entire Fortnite island is now flooded with water, dramatically changing the landscape.
As with most season changes, season 3 has shaken up the Fortnite map. Instead of the small river system that ran through the Chapter 2 map in its first two seasons, it now looks more like a series of islands with a large sea dividing them.
Deadly sharks are patrolling the waters, and they may have a few secrets of their own. These sharks are pretty dangerous for players, but they have some added benefits if you’re willing to get close. If you can hook a shark with a Fishing Rod, they’ll turn into a mini-vehicle that you can use to jet-ski across the water toward your destination — just like in the season-opening trailer.
Also added to the list of enemies for this season are Marauders. These enemies seem similar to the Agency guards that were around last season, except Marauders fall from the sky onto the map and battle players when they see them.
Fortnite Chapter 2 season 3 is out now and, while it may still change throughout the season, for now we should all start getting used to the watery new battle royale island.
