Dark Souls 2 details keep spawning from E3

CVG have their hands on preview from E3 up now and there are some new, interesting things in there. You can also read Polygons hands-on coverage here which covers Mike McWhertors experience with the title.

First of all there are no vehicles as were rumoured last year, it's been mentioned that bonfires will allow warping between areas once more to facilitate quick travel.

"In terms of the story, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 take place in the same universe but they are different locations and times,...they don't really have a direct relationship though."

Somewhat expected given the earlier statement that this would be the South Pole equivalent to Lordrans North Pole. But still, no direct relationship might rule out thoughts about this being a prequel.

According to a Namco rep, the dual swordsman is the most difficult character class to start with

So it appears that classes are returning this time. There were rumours From Software would allow you full control over building your character and this somewhat alludes to limited customisability on that front.

On the other side of the bonfire a long dark hall awaits. In the southern alcove several candles are lit, and according to Tanimura each of these candles represents a death. Whenever any player online dies at the hands of the boss in this area, a new candle will be lit, and you will see it.

This sounds really freaking cool. Imagine standing at that bonfire and seeing all these little candles light up. Now I'm thinking about that Gollum scene in The Two Towers.

There's more clarification about the boss character 'Mirror Knight' and his shield which can be used to summon a smaller version to aid him in the battle. Not only will you be facing two characters on this fight but there exists the possibility of a human invasion as well. Check out the rest of the story on CVG for those details.
