Frustrating controls

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I find the controls of Super Mario 3D World a little frustrating. So far I've tried the GamePad, Pro Controller, and Wii Remote + Nunchuk but none feel right to me. I think it's because I prefer to use B to dash, and most other Mario games allow you to swap the ABXY controls, but I can't find that option in SM3DW. Using X or Y to dash feels weird to me.

Am I missing something?
