The Pathless is the Abzu team’s beautiful follow-up

One of The Game Awards 2018’s premieres was the fantasy game The Pathless, which looks beautiful. We can’t say too much about it yet — because the trailer doesn’t tell us much — but from what we can glean, it’s an adventure game set in a forest of all kinds of creatures, from hawks to fire monsters.

And, again, it looks beautiful.

The Pathless is in development by Giant Squid Studios, which is best known for developing 2016’s Abzu. There are some seeming similarities between the two games: Abzu was an ethereal journey through a distinct, gorgeous environment, just as The Pathless appears to be.

Abzu was Giant Squid’s first game, after its founder Matt Nava left his previous post at Journey developer Thatgamecompany. We’re excited to see what the team has next up their sleeve when The Pathless launches sometime in 2019 on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via the Epic Games store.
