Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima will be released in summer 2020, the developer announced during The Game Awards in Los Angeles on Dec. 12. According to host Geoff Keighley, it was the longest trailer of the night.
The developer showcased new gameplay and cinematic footage for the third-person action game, followed by a live orchestra playing music from the game.
Sucker Punch, which is known for its work on the PlayStation-exclusive Infamous series, gave us a good look at the game — set in feudal Japan — during E3 2018, but information has been scarce since then. In Ghost of Tsushima, players will be able to explore an open-world island set during the 13th century. The game is centered on a samurai named Jin Sakai as he’s learning the way of the Ghost to defend Tsushima Island and Japan from the Mongolian invasion.
Ahead of the new trailer at The Game Awards, Sony teased its appearance at the event with a brief trailer during its State of Play presentation on Dec. 10.
Ghost of Tsushima will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive when it’s released over the summer.
