BioShock Infinite will float onto North American store shelves October 16, 2012, a press release from 2K Games revealed earlier this morning. The 360, PS3 and PC versions will all arrive simultaneously on that date, while another version — the European version — arrives on October 19.
"After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition," creative director Ken Levine said in the release date's press release announcement. "BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can't wait for fans to get their hands on it."
On Twitter, Levine explained some of the reasoning behind the game's scheduling. "Hmmm ... what day shall we release Infinite," Levine said. "I don't know ... hell, let's do it on October 16. Why the hell not?!" Hey, if you're going to be all free-spirited about it, why not pick another day? Like, say, March 2?
