LittleBigPlanet Karting is in development for the PS3 by ModNation Racers creator United Front Games and will be released in 2012, PlayStation Blog revealed today. The title was revealed last month by Sony without any actual details about the game. Today, a message from both LBP creator Media Molecule and United Front paint a picture of what players are in for.
The game will unsurprisingly feature a substantial set of user-generated content tools, with which players can generate levels, racers and rules for their homespun tracks. The game sports the franchise's "Play, Create, Share" motto, so it seems likely that players will have means of distributing their tracks to the community — perhaps with the LBP.me framework that's already in place for LittleBigPlanet 2.
United Front released a trailer alongside the announcement, which you can check out below. It looks like much more than a ModNation Racers title with an LBP skin slapped on — we don't remember the last ModNation title having grappling hook boss fights.
