Marvel and Ubisoft are teaming up to release Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 and Wii U this fall.
Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth will utilize the Kinect and the Wii U's motion-sensing tablet controller. Though the game will feature 20 characters from the Marvel universe, it won't be based on the events of the recently released film — rather, it will focus on the Avengers' "Secret Invasion" comic book series.
Ubisoft vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key explained why Ubisoft is taking the motion control approach when adapting the franchise to video games.
"The idea that we're making a motion-control version of 'The Avengers' is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past," Key told the Associated Press. "This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They're always fighting and throwing things."
We suppose they are prone to "throwing things," but we wouldn't make that a crucial motion interaction in the final product. It would probably take seconds before we start seeing headlines like "Captain Jeff throws his mighty Wii U tablet through his 51-inch flatscreen TV."
