Though it seemed like for a majority of its 30-day pledge drive, Camoflaj's stealth-action indie game Republique wouldn't reach it's lofty $500,000 Kickstarter goal, a surge in donations on the final day has pushed the project over its target.

Though it seemed like for a majority of its 30-day pledge drive, Camouflaj's stealth-action indie game Republique wouldn't reach it's lofty $500,000 Kickstarter goal, a surge in donations on the final day has pushed the project over its target.

As of about eight days ago, that didn't seem possible. After 22 days of fundraising, Republique had only made a little over one-half of its goal. On May 3rd, Camouflaj's Ryan Payton used the Kickstarter site to announce the involvement of two voice-over heavyweights: Metal Gear Solid's David Hayter and Mass Effect's Jennifer Hale. Their involvement helped bring in a single-day push of around $55,000 — but then things slowed down again.

A huge push from the game's enthusiastic backers on social media channels led to an enormous surge of donations two days ago. Today, the Republique Kickstarter campaign reached its unlikely goal with just seven hours before its deadline.

Check out the project's Kicktraq statistics to see the uneven spread of donations, and read our interview with (a presumably nervous) Payton as the campaign moved into its final 24 hours.
