'Lost Planet 3' German dev diary shows off new survival horror direction

A little less Monster Hunter, a little more Dead Space

The first gameplay footage from Capcom's Lost Planet 3 was revealed last night in a German developer diary for the game, showcasing a title that is shedding its roots in favor of a Dead Space-style survival horror experience.

The first gameplay footage from Capcom's Lost Planet 3 was revealed last night in a German developer diary for the game, showcasing a title that is shedding its roots in favor of a Dead Space-style survival horror experience.

Though the developer diary embedded below is entirely in German, you don't need to speak the language to hear the developers mention "survival horror" or "Dead Space" three separate times. Watching the footage, the comparison is apt — the dark corridors, slow locomotion and life-or-death QTE would look right at home in Visceral's interstellar horror series.
