Speaking to GamesIndustry International, a spokesperson for the publisher said that they will still be participating in E3, although we won't be seeing the flashy booths they had in previous years.'

"We're not producing a booth, but we will be participating in E3," the spokesperson said.

"We will be showing games to the E3 judges at their event coming up [E3 Judges' Week occurs in the lead-up to the show where gaming outlets are given advance access to games for scoring], and we'll be hosting a press and business center at the show for meetings (as well as participating with first party activities)."

"When we needed to make the decision on the booth (many months ago), we were in a MUCH different place than today. But we will be there to support our portfolio and the show itself."

When Polygon contacted THQ for comment, we were told that THQ will also be hosting local events for media to interview developers, get hands-on time with all their games, and receive access to anything that would typically be shown at an E3 booth.

A boothless THQ at this year's E3 will be a far cry from previous shows when the publisher had a booth on the show floor and ran large publicity campaigns during E3 week for titles like Homefront and Saints Row The Third.

The financially-troubled publisher is shedding costs by focusing on its core titles and, presumably, a smaller E3 presence.
