'Diablo 3: Wrath' short film blends Heaven, Hell and a Saturday morning cartoon

Blizzard Entertainment and animation studio Titmouse teamed up to create a brief introduction to the inter-plane struggle that permeates Diablo, titled "Diablo 3: Wrath"

It's likely that the 12 years between the respective releases of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 have left a generation of new players with absolutely no idea what's going on.

For this very crowd, Blizzard Entertainment and animation studio Titmouse teamed up to create a brief introduction to the inter-plane struggle that permeates the series. Titled Diablo 3: Wrath, the six-minute cartoon is an animated, violent primer on the war between the High Heavens and Burning Hells, and a dossier on some of the combatants you'll encounter during your upcoming dungeon dive. For instance: Diablo! He's a really crummy guy.

The film was directed by Aeon Flux and Animatrix director Peter Chung, and written by Blizzard writers Chris Metzen and James Waugh. You can watch it in its entirety below.
