New LEGO game invokes Peter Jackson's film trilogy.
Warner Bros. Interactive dropped the first trailer for LEGO: The Lord of the Rings today, featuring scenes mirroring Peter Jackson's film trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien's high-fantasy epic.
The soundtrack and voices are ripped directly from the films. The trailer shows the Fellowship of the Ring on their mad dash through the Mines of Moria, a Balrog in hot pursuit. Structures within the mine crumble, scattering LEGO bricks everywhere as they fall away into an abyss. As the Balrog's gross breath reaches Gandalf he takes a moment to swat it away, showing that the innocent humor of the LEGO series may still be present in The Lord of the Rings.
LEGO: The Lord of the Rings like all LEGO titles will retain emphasis on co-op play and retells all three books of the trilogy, touching upon everything from the Shire to Mount Doom. All nine Fellowship members are also playable at once, with players tapping buttons to switch between them.
