Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada revealed his upcoming game at E3 last week, a new game titled Project Happiness.
The premise of the game involves the player running a shop in a small village – as the player interacts with fellow villagers by selling them items, more of the character's personal story is revealed. The player will form attachments to their neighbors and these in-game relationships force the player to consider what will make the other characters happy and, ultimately, what makes the player happy.
Wada said that after some time is spent interacting with the villagers, the player will be able to grant one of seven wishes to the characters he's met. "Because you've spent very much time with the villagers, you care for them, you feel affection, you're attached to them – that is going to make your choice very difficult," he said.
"This game makes you ponder what life is really about, what happiness means. I want all the players to think about what happiness means."
The game 's character design is by the same artist behind Pokemon's character design, Atsuko Nishida. Project Happiness' music is composed by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. Few details have been released about Project Happiness. The game is planned for the 3DS and mobile devices.
