Blizzard talks about Diablo 3's changes for MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Apple gave Diablo 3 a special shout out at its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this week during the unveiling of its new laptop, the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Apple's senior VP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller name-checked Blizzard's click and loot action RPG as one of the Mac applications being updated to support the new MacBook Pro's 2880-by-1800 resolution display. "You're going to see a gaming experience with this resolution unlike any you have seen before," Schiller said without reservation.

Blizzard confirmed to Polygon today that, yes, it's continuing to tweak Diablo 3 to "take full advantage" of the new hardware, but there's still work to be done.

"We were pleased that Diablo III was included in Apple's MacBook Pro presentation at their annual Worldwide Developers Conference," read a statement from the company. "While we can confirm that the game runs natively on and takes full advantage of the full screen resolution for the new MacBook Pro, we need to do some work to optimize it for windowed mode on the new system. We will provide our Mac players with an update when we have further details to share."

Blizzard Entertainment updated the Diablo 3 client today with a handful of fixes. The company also launched the real-money auction house that lets players purchase in-game goods with the real world currency of their choice.
