Sony's PSN Play 2012 promotion features The Expendables 2 Videogame, Sound Shapes, Papo & Yo, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Sony's PSN Play 2012 promotion, which runs from July 24th through August 27th, offers discounts for buying two or more of four upcoming PlayStation Network games.
The program features Ubisoft's The Expendables 2 Videogame (July 31st), a four-player co-op shooter; Queasy Games' PS3/Vita musical platformer, Sound Shapes (August 7th); Minority Media's Papo & Yo (August 14th), a personal tale of an alcoholic father; and Valve's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (August 21st), which no longer supports cross-platform play.
If you buy any two of the games, you'll receive a $3 credit; buying three of the four doubles that to $6; and if you pick up all four titles, you get $10 back. (The credit is valid throughout the PlayStation Store.) Those who pre-order any of the titles will receive a free PS3 theme for that game. As usual, PlayStation Plus subscribers enjoy a special deal: a 20 percent discount on any game if it is pre-ordered, or purchased within its launch week.
The video below highlights the four games in the deal, which is positioned against Microsoft's annual Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox Live Arcade.
Update: Sony has announced that each PSN Play 2012 game will cost $14.99 ($11.99 with the PlayStation Plus discount), and that the promotion is only available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Update 2: This article originally stated that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive supports cross-platform play. That functionality was planned, but eventually abandoned; the article has been edited to reflect this.
