World of Warcraft film adaptation is in production, but Sam Raimi is no longer directing.
Sam Raimi is no longer directing the upcoming film adaptation of World of Warcraft, it was revealed to Crave Online at this year's San Diego Comic Con.
Despite being attached to the project since 2009, the Evil Dead director stated his exit from the WoW project is due to scheduling issues with his current directorial project, Oz: The Great and Powerful.
"Actually, they don't have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it."
Raimi did not reveal who is now directing the title.
The World of Warcraft film is being developed by Blizzard and Legendary Pictures, and is produced by Blizzard's Chris Metzen and Charles Roven, who previously produced Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It is currently unknown when it may eventually release.
