A select number of the winners for the 2012 Pokemon Video Game World Championships will become trainers in Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2, The Pokemon Company announced today.

The chosen players will be represented as Pokemon Trainers in the games, along with their respective rosters of Pokemon. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 players will be able to take on these top trainers in a new battle arena called the Pokemon World Tournament. Game Freak will add all this to Black 2 and White 2 via the DS's Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. When asked if the players' likenesses or just their names would appear in the games, a representative for The Pokemon Company told Polygon that details would be forthcoming.

The 2012 Pokemon Video Game World Championships are set to be held from August 11–12 in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The competition will bring together Pokemon players from around the world, including 36 American finalists who conquered a tournament of over 2,000 players at the 2012 Pokemon U.S. National Championships in Indianapolis this past weekend.

Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 are due out in North America on October 7th.
