Warner Bros. Games Seattle, the collective name of WB subsidiaries Monolith Productions, Snowblind Studios and Surreal Software, is rumored to be undergoing a round of staff cuts today.

The first murmurings of the layoffs came from 3D Realms founder George Broussard, who tweeted earlier today, "Another Warner Brothers layoff going on as we speak. In progress now. Shame. Hope people land safely." Joystiq reports that an unnamed firsthand source confirmed that the Pacific Northwest-based trio of developers was currently undergoing staff cuts, but did not confirm how many folks were being let go.

Snowblind released Lord of the Rings: War in the North last year, while Monolith is currently working on another title in Tolkien's fantasy universe, Guardians of Middle-Earth. We've contacted Warner Bros. to find out how these layoffs will affect this project, and to learn the extent of the cuts.
