Battlefield 3's next expansion, "Aftermath," puts multiplayer action in Tehran, Iran, after a crippling earthquake, developer DICE announced today.
A Tehran earthquake was a major event in the game's single-player campaign.
Battlefield 3: Aftermath sees soldiers fighting among the rubble and destroyed buildings, having to navigate fissures in the ground on the way to objectives. It doesn't appear that the earthquake itself will be an in-game event; instead, the action will apparently take place after the earthquake levels the Iranian capital. The disaster forces soldiers and insurgents to adapt to the circumstances, modifying civilian vehicles to move their forces around "with operational capacity severely compromised."
The DLC delivers four additional maps and a new game mode, along with new assignments to complete, and Achievements and dog tags to earn. It is the fourth of five Battlefield 3 expansion packs that are free to Battlefield Premium subscribers.
"Aftermath" is scheduled for release in December. The next expansion pack, "Armored Kill," is coming in September.
