In Sleeping Dogs, United Front Games' upcoming open-world game set in Hong Kong, players will spend plenty of time firing guns, a gameplay element showcased in a quick trailer released by Square Enix today.
The trailer mentions "hard-boiled gunplay," and indeed, Sleeping Dogs includes slow-motion abilities that let protagonist Wei Shen engage in the balletic combat that is characteristic of the John Woo film catalog. Shooting during car chases is also highlighted in the trailer; these sections appear to put the player in control of the gun in his hand while an AI partner drives.
In addition, hand-to-hand combat is a major focus in Sleeping Dogs. For more on the brutal methods of the Triad gang featured in the game, check out our E3 preview.
Sleeping Dogs is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 14th.
