Florida video game store owner, Shane Butcher, is selling his three video game stores, two homes, cars, and other possessions for $3.5 million on eBay.
The owner of the R.U. Game? stores founded the chain with his wife in 2009 and the business is said to be doing well, but Butcher is looking for a sea change, which is why he is selling everything he owns.
"I'm in the black. Everything I have, my home, my cars, everything is paid off in full. This isn't a fire sale by any means," Butcher said in an interview with Forbes.
"There's a lot of things we haven't seen or gotten to do while we've been working so hard to grow the business," he says. "We'd like to see the landmarks throughout the country, the Grand Canyon, stuff like that. We'll probably buy a camper and just travel for a while, go see some family."
Once Butcher sells off his video game chain and most of his earthly possessions, he plans on spending some time travelling before returning to Florida to launch his second career.
Butcher says in the current economic climate, he doesn't expect to sell all his possessions for the asking price of $3.5 million, even though he believes it is a good price. He's realistic about his chances of liquidating his possessions and says he would be "perfectly" happy to stay in Florida and continue running his business.
The listing, which includes the three R.U. Game? store locations in Tampa, Florida, all the video games within the store, coin-op arcade units, the e-commerce website of the stores, Butcher's waterfront property, three cars and three kayaks, and a waterfront rental condo, is going for $3.5 million with a $10,000 good faith deposit required of the winning bidder.
Butcher has also offered to stay on for six months after the business is sold to act as a mentor for new business owners who might need assistance running the R.U. Game? stores.
