Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask focuses on an old friend of the titular teacher and her request for his assistance, according to a new trailer for the game — the series' first on 3DS — released by Nintendo today.

The friend, Sharon, refers to the professor by his first name, Hershel, and asks him to help solve the mystery that has befallen the town of Montedole. A man wearing a mystical mask is terrorizing the townspeople, and it appears that he draws his power from the mask. So the Professor sets out toward Montedole with his apprentice, Luke, and his assistant, Emmy, and they end up chasing the flying Masked Gentleman on horseback after he disrupts a parade.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask will be out on October 28th exclusively for 3DS.
