The studio behind the massively successful Angry Birds mobile games has hired former Just Cause 2 and Battlefield Heroes developer, Oskar Burman, to head up their new game development studio in Stockholm.
Rovio, headquartered in Finland, announced today that they'd snapped up Burman, an industry veteran who used to head up EA's Easy Studios. In his 15 years in the games industry he co-founded one of the first game development studios in Sweden, UDS, and was a studio manager at Avalanche Studios before moving to the EA-owned Easy Studios.
Burman is being brought on board to get Rovio's Stockholm office up and running and to also find Stockholm's best talent to work on Rovio's games.
"Oskar's experience, vision, and track record speaks for itself," said Petri Järvilehto, EVP of Games at Rovio. "We're delighted to welcome Oskar to the flock and look forwarding to building a highly creative games development team in Stockholm under his leadership."
The Stockholm office is already hiring game designers, programmers, artists, and producers via their careers page.
