Tearaway is the new game from Media Molecule.

Media Molecule, the creators of LittleBigPlanet, have announced their new game, Tearaway.

The developers took the stage during Sony's Gamescom press conference today to show Tearaway for the first time. The Vita game follows a character named Iota, who is trapped inside the titular world, made entirely out of paper. Everything in the environment, we're told, will be interactive.

Certain characters and environmental set pieces react to the use of the Vita's touch screen, like drum skins that launch Iota into the air when tapped. Jabbing the rear panel lets the player virtually reach into the game, knocking enemies out of the way. Tilting the Vita rolls enemies, while blowing the system creates a breeze in the game. The general idea seems to be that our world and Iota's are bleeding into one another.

Update: Sony has released five screenshots of Tearaway. We've put them in a gallery for you below.
