The game world environments from the massively multiplayer online game 38 Studios was working on before it closed were revealed in two YouTube videos posted by a former 38 Studios employee this week.

The videos, which were posted by 38 Studios' former senior environment artist, show the stunning environments from Project Copernicus, the codename for a MMO that was to take place in the fictional realm of Amalur.

The first video shows the city of Jottunhessen and its environments after the game was optimized and polished and the developers "fine-tuned [the] occlusion and lighting to meet the drawcall and pixel complexity limitations".

The second video, uploaded by the same developer, is "dedicated to everybody who worked on Copernicus" and shows off a crisp and stylized city of Valiance under rose-colored sunlight, on a clear blue day, and at night.

The closure of 38 Studios meant that Project Copernicus was not completed. The game was first publicly revealed with video footage back in May.
