Assassin's Creed 3 received a new video today highlighting the naval warfare first revealed at E3.
Assassin's Creed 3 received a new video today highlighting the series' new naval warfare gameplay, detailed at Gamescom.
The video explores both the aquatic gameplay and the narrative motivation that underpins it. "When we started development on Assassin's Creed 3, we realized that the revolution was not just fought on land, but on the sea," said Alex Hutchinson, creative director for Assassin's Creed 3 at Ubisoft.
The video features the game's protagonist, Connor, master and commander of a vessel that has to contend with a dynamic weather system and stormy seas that that complicate the environment and gameplay. Showcasing weapons like cannons, hand-to-hand combat, and a variety of mission types, Hutchinson said it all takes place within a historical context.
Polygon played Assassin's Creed 3'at Gamescom earlier this month, which we learned won't comprise much of the game.
Assassin's Creed 3's muskets are loaded for an October 30th release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. You can get your sea legs ready by watching the video below.
