Wreck-It Ralph, the upcoming animated film from Disney, includes cameos from actual video game characters, each of which was approved by the characters' owner, the film's director and producer told IGN.

Personal contact with companies like Nintendo, Capcom, and Sega, coupled with a willingness to work with each to portray their characters fairly, lead to a relatively smooth process, they said.

"We went out and met with people in person, which I think is the key," producer Clark Spencer told IGN. "When people came in for E3, we would actually meet with all of the companies and talk about the movie. From the very beginning we said, 'We want to be authentic to your character. What we would like to do is put in an approval process where you look at our animation and you say that we're being true to the character.'"

On the movie's official website, you can play Fix-It Felix Jr., the fictional arcade game on which the movie is based. It's also available as a free download for iOS devices. Disney Interactive also announced Wreck-It Ralph games for Wii, 3DS, and DS to coincide with the film's release on November 2nd.

You can watch Wreck-It Ralph's trailer below, which includes cameos from classic villains including Bowser, Doctor Robotnik, and M. Bison.
