Kazuya Niinou, best known for his work on Atlus' Etrian Odyssey and Imageepoch's 7th Dragon, has set his sights on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Niinou announced today via twitter that he now works as one of the game's assistant directors.
"If I get the chance, I would like to release my own game again, but for now I will give my all to Eorzea," wrote Niinou. Niinou made the jump to the Square Enix staff after health issues; according to Adriasang, "he felt that continuing as a director would be difficult," and instead chose to start fresh with a new team.
In an effort to overhaul the mess that was Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix announced A Realm Reborn, a serious makeover for the game in terms of graphics and gameplay. The game does not yet have an official release date, although a test beta is expected to launch this winter.
