ArenaNet reopened digital sales of Guild Wars 2 today after suspending it only two days after the game's release due to server overload.
The developer suspended first-party sales and retail replenishment of Guild Wars 2 on August 30th to catch up with player demand after more players bought and accessed the game than they had originally planned. The suspension has given ArenaNet the opportunity to deploy new servers in North America and Europe and nearly double the number of staff in customer support.
"Preserving the customer experience has always been our top priority," said Mike O'Brien, president and cofounder of ArenaNet. "We're supporting Guild Wars 2 for the long run. We'll always do what it takes to deliver the best online gaming experience for our customers, even when that means throttling sales."
Guild Wars 2 is now available at buy.guildwars2.com and at retail. A new trailer (below) has also been released to celebrate the return of the game to ArenaNet's digital store.
