Zynga is bringing two role-playing games from its Japanese studio to the North American market, Montopia and Ayakashi: Ghost Guild, the company announced today.
Both titles have been out for eight months on iOS and Android from Zynga's own Japanese studio, and will be translated into English, Chinese, and Korean. These will be the first role-playing games from Zynga on global market.
Montopia is similar to Pokemon. Players must capture and breed special creatures on a journey to solve the riddles of a lost civilization. Ayakashi: Ghost Guild pits players against ghosts, whom they must defeat, possess, and turn into demons to battle on their side against other players.
"From baseball cards to the introduction of online card collecting games in the 1990s, collecting is a gameplay mechanic as old as time," general manager Scott Koenigsberg said in a press release. "Montopia and Ayakashi: Ghost Guild are fun, social, and high-quality games that expand our global mobile games portfolio into the RPG category, and we hope our players across the world enjoy playing as much as we do."
Zynga's Japan studio opened in 2010 and localizes Facebook and mobile games for the Japanese market as well as developing new ones for a worldwide audience.
