NBA 2K13 includes the USA Basketball men's teams from 1992 — the "Dream Team" — and 2012, and a new trailer features the two squads facing off in a battle of NBA legends past and present.
NBA 2K13 owners will be able to play out matchups of NBA stars separated by two decades: Patrick Ewing against fellow Knick Tyson Chandler; Larry Bird and Kevin Durant; Michael Jordan versus Kobe Bryant. Most importantly, with Scottie Pippen reconsidering his choice to stay on the sidelines, NBA 2K13 will have the full rosters for both the 1992 and 2012 teams.
We can't answer the "who would win?" question in real life, but Visual Concepts has put together the next best thing. Twenty years on, the Dream Team's staggering success in Barcelona remains the yardstick by which all USA Basketball men's teams are measured. That 1992 group destroyed its opponents, winning with an average margin of victory of just under 44 points. This year's team, on the other hand, squeaked by Spain for the gold in London. Yet the debate about individual matchups rages on, and NBA 2K13 will provide more fuel for the fire.
NBA 2K13 is set for release on October 2nd on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, and PSP, with a Wii U version to follow this holiday season. Check out our full gameplay preview for more details.
