With the release of Borderlands 2 only days away, Gearbox Software has launched a browser-based spin-off game that allows players to earn real-life prizes.
Mount Jackmore is an online game where Borderlands 2's villain, Handsome Jack, has carved his face into Pandora's rocky landscape. Players register to take part, choose a weapon, and shoot away at the face in the hope of taking away a prize. Players are initially given 100 bullets to chip away at the stone face and are given extra bullets if they invite their friends to play.
The prizes on offer include Borderlands 2 Vault logo pin badges, official apparel, figurines, copies of the game (upon release), and sixteen Limited Edition Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chests.
The game is open only to those over the age of 18 in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Russia, and Australia. It is not open to North America.
New prizes will be offered each week. The game can be accessed here. Borderlands 2 will release on September 18th in North America for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
