While it wasn't available during Nintendo's big Wii U event last week, THQ tells Polygon that Darksiders 2 will allow gamers to play the game entirely on the GamePad when it launches.
"It works now, we just had it disabled for the NY event," a spokesman told Polygon.
The Wii U version of Vigil Games' Darksiders 2 will come come with the game's first DLC pack, "Argul's Tomb", plus all of the pre-order bonus content loaded onto the disc. That's five hours of additional content.
Developers also told Polygon that they are planning to sell the game's next two DLC packs, "The Abyssal Forge" and "The Demon Lord Belial", as premium DLC through Nintendo's eShop after the Wii U launches.
While the version of the game shown at Nintendo's event last week didn't include GamePad-only gameplay support, it did allow attendees to check out what the Wii U's touch-screen controller brings to the title.
Players can use the title to view a map as they play, they can also use the control's motion-sensing capabilities to dodge and leap side-to-side, by moving the controller sharply in the direction they want Death to jump. Motion controls aren't required, though.
Most useful, though, seems to be the ability to access Death's abilities and massive inventory screens while playing. Tapping on new items, instantly changes how Death is outfitted, no longer requiring players to pause the game to sort through Darksiders 2's thousands of pieces of armor, weapons and other trinkets.
In Darksiders 2, players take on Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, on a quest to save all of creation.
Darksiders 2 is one of more than 15 titles confirmed for release on Nov. 18, the day the Wii U hits store shelves.
